Participation in the Sunrise Side Heritage Bike Tour is not limited to any one brand of motorcycle. Organizers are looking for anyone interested in participating to join in the fun. Along the way motorcycle enthusiasts will travel along US-23 from Standish, north to Mackinaw City, then south along M-33 through the interior counties of the region ending in West Branch on Sunday evening. Participants will be treated to a closing ceremony that will announce winners in various categories including ugliest bike, sharpest bike, worst dressed and best dressed. An old-fashioned picnic featuring hot dogs, brats, potato salad and cookies will also be served. |

Communities along the route have been planning to host the motorcyclists as they travel through the region. Concerts, pig roasts, festivals, a blessing of the bikes in Indian River and more are planned. Riders from around the Midwest will have the opportunity to sample the hospitality that Michigan’s Sunrise Side has to offer. Such offerings as the Hopps of Fun Festival in Mackinaw City, the Posen Potato Festival, the Rogers City Salmon Tournament and other similar events will keep riders busy. Fall in northeast Michigan is a spectacular time to visit. With children back in school after the Labor Day Weekend the region has a good availability of rooms and a reduced traffic load on its highways. Planners hope that the motorcyclists will have the experience of enjoying great weather, beautiful views of the Lake Huron shoreline, then travel through the woods and hills of the region’s interior counties. Registration forms are available for download here: 1 day ride, 2 day ride or by calling the Michigan's Sunrise Side offices at 800.424.3022 Early registration fees have been set at $25.00 if paid prior to April 15 and $30.00 after that date. A late registration fee of $35.00 will be assessed for those choosing to register after August 15, 2008. |
